Education

The Bentonville School District is comprised of 15 campuses as well as administrative and support offices. The district serves the communities of Bentonville, Cave Springs, Centerton, Vaughn, Highfill and portions of Bella Vista and Rogers. In 2008 approximately 12,500 students were enrolled in the district’s nine elementary schools, three middle schools, two junior highs and one high school. The district employs 900 certified staff members, half of whom hold master’s degrees.

The district focuses on teaching students to achieve the highest standards needed to meet the challenges of today and the future. The district is frequently included in the state’s top-scoring schools, and Bentonville High School is ranked in the top 500 of Newsweek’s “Best American High Schools.” In October 2007 Bentonville High School was recognized as a Blue Ribbon School. This award was only earned by two schools in Arkansas. It is presented by the US Department of Education for consistent high-student achievement.

The Bentonville School District is the fastest growing school district in Arkansas and expanded in 2007 with the opening of Cooper Elementary in Bella Vista. Cooper Elementary is the largest elementary school in Arkansas and is considered a “green” school for its unique environmentally-friendly construction.

In addition to one of the most highly recognized public school systems in the state of Arkansas, there are also many opportunities for post-secondary education including a community college, two four-year institutions within a 30-mile radius and several other opportunities for enriching the mind through education.
